the controversial American Pastor (Rev.Terry Jones) from Florida has surfaced once again. He was the instigator of the attempt to disgrace the Holy Quran last November calling it an International Burn a Quran day'. This stunt was widely condemned with pleas from the Obama administration, US military officials, The Vatican and religious leaders across the world.
On the 20th of March 2011 the Pastor held a mock trial consisting of a 12 man jury made from his own members and volunteers including himself as the Judge. Islam was being represented and the Quran was defended by an Imam from Dallas. After a six hour trial the Jury decided the Quran promoted hatred and violence, and this justified the burning of this Holy Scripture.
In 2010 the Canadian Prime Minister Stephen Harper condemned the planned Quran burning in unequivocal terms. 'I don't speak very often about my own religion but let me be very clear: My God and my Christ is a tolerant God, and that's what we want to see in this world'.
The leader of the global Ahmadiyya Muslim Community, a movement in Islam, stated in his address on the 25th of March 2011 that:
‘As this Priest does not hold much standing in America, He does not have a significant following nor many adherents with him, there might only be only a few hundred people that go to his Church. He carried out this horrendous act to attain cheap publicity.’
